Built in 1873, the Grand Hotel Duchi d’Aosta stands on a site historically dedicated to hospitality.
Since 1300, starting with the Hospitium Magnum, it has been home to some of the most influential nobles, intellectuals and historical figures over the centuries.
After a recent renovation, today it is a 5-star boutique hotel, a proud member of Relais & Chateaux, which aims to preserve the artistic and eclectic memory of our territory.
You are welcomed into a “theatrical” space through the original wooden door of the historic reception desk, made from glass molten with gold and bronze, which highlight the same flickering reflections of the lights of Trieste on the sea.
The staircase area has been transformed into a “vertical” art gallery, with temporary exhibitions that pay tribute to the local artistic soul. The Rooms and Suites are all different from each other and describe the distinguishing elements of the city of Trieste, enabling the original space and the contemporary world to coexist.
The counterpart F&B Harry’s has also been renovated, whilst retaining its charm and the unique atmosphere of the original place. Harry’s fully represents a brand that is synonymous with eno-gastronomic excellence.

Curiosity

Worthy of note is the transformation of the building’s staircase into a “vertical” art gallery. In fact, the offset between the building’s two bodies of the building allowed for the idea of an exhibition path that evolves around the elevator and the landings of the four floors. The walls, enriched with different-colour satin headboards on each floor, host works by local artists in temporary exhibitions open to the public.
