La memoria del mondo

Adrien, an art historian and biographer of the artist Ernst Bollinger, finds himself involved in the finale of the story he is writing, the last chapters of his master’s life. The two set out in search of a woman who has mysteriously disappeared; to accomplish this mission, they find themselves, accompanied by a young boatman, in the uncontaminated nature of a winter lagoon, where, following the traces of the woman, they will investigate these isolated territories, but also their own interiority.

The evocative landscapes of the film, shot entirely in Friuli Venezia Giulia, can be found in the province of Gorizia, in the Foce dell’Isonzo nature reserve and in the Isola della Cona, its heart. Recognized as the best area in Italy for birdwatching, this area is the ideal habitat for many species, especially birds, both resident and migratory. The natural integrity of the reserve is guaranteed by continuous environmental restoration interventions and also by the presence of animals, such as Camargue horses, which roam freely and help control the growth of vegetation.

Since its establishment in 1996, the reserve has been equipped with services and facilities to welcome tourists, on foot on the Isola della Cona, and by bike along the many surrounding cycle paths.

In the film, we get also glimpses of Magazzino 26 and the Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico of Trieste, an ideal place for those who want to combine nature, science and technology!
