Shooting has begun in Trieste on “Margherita of the Stars” film for RAI, directed by Giulio Base and written by Monica Zapelli with Federico Taddia. The first biopic on Margherita Hack is based on the autobiographical book “Nine Lives Like Cats” written by Hack herself together with Taddia.
The film will be the first fiction work tracing the life of the astrophysicist, from her origins to her arrival in Trieste. The great scientist left us 10 years ago in June 2013, so the TV opera becomes an opportunity to remember her as a true model of emancipation and exceptional authenticity.
In the role of Hack we find the actress Cristiana Capotondi, this is a great return to our region for her, in fact we remember her in the Rai miniseries “Sissi” and “Rebecca, the First Wife” where some scenes were filmed precisely in Trieste.
Also in the cast will be Cesare Bocci as her father Roberto, Sandra Ceccarelli as her mother, and playing Hack’s husband Aldo De Rosa will be Flavio Parenti.
Another return for the city is that of Trieste’s urban tramway, but only for script requirements a few days ago the Opicina Tram returned for a few hours to the tracks of the Trieste-Opicina line just long enough to shoot a scene from the film.
The Trieste locations of the film that we will soon see on screens are the wonderful Piazza Unità d’Italia, the home of Cividale architect Giovan Battista de Puppi: Villa Bazzoni, and the astronomical observatories of Trieste and Basovizza.
“Margherita of the Stars” is a Rai Fiction-Minerva Pictures production, produced by Santo Versace and Gianluca Curti, and will be broadcast soon on Rai 1.
