Bertoldo, Bertoldino and Cacasenno

Bertoldo, Bertoldino and Cacasenno, inspired by the story of Giulio Cesare Croce is a comedy with colorful tones. It tells the story of Bertoldo and his son Bertoldino living in the Veronese court of Alboino. It is a comedy in costume embellished with unpredictable and bizarre language.
Monicelli filmed the outdoor scenes of the castle in Marano, near Lignano Sabbiadoro, where 24 years before he had filmed ‘Paths of Glory’. Struck by the location of this charming and unusual wildlife oasis, the director turned the area of the Casoni, typical local shelters for hunters and fishermen, into a film set. The lagoon of Marano, where there are the greatest number of these shelters, is at the mouth of the river Stella. This village is now part of the wildlife reserve.
